<p>An alumnus of Mahidol University International College (MUIC), Mr. Phuwarat Norchoovech (Computer Science, Class of 2008) won with his team UpPass the 1st Place in MEiD Hackathon: Digital ID Solution for All in their innovation “No-Code Verification Onboarding Platform” at the Auditorium, KX – Knowledge Exchange for Innovation, on February 7, 2022.</p>



<p>Mr. Phuwarat and his team received a cash prize of 250,000 Baht with plaque and certificate.</p>



<p>His team’s entry and platform will be built on Digital Service Sandbox by Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA ).</p>



<p>Mr. Phuwarat is a Co-founder and Chief Product and Data Officer of Credit OK, a fintech startup that extends capital to micro-entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia.</p>

<p>Assoc. Prof. Chulathida Chomchai, M.D., Dean of MUIC, presented to Dr. Suniti Barua the plaque for being one of the MUIC Outstanding Alumni Awardees 2017 on January 15, 2019 at the Co-working Space, Aditayathorn Building. Dr. Barua, who is already based in the US, is in Thailand for a visit.</p>



<p>A member of the Class of 2000, Dr. Barua graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2000. &nbsp;She finished her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology degree at the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University, Palo Alto, California (APA Accredited) in 2010.</p>



<p>Afterwards, she received the Fellowship Award and Brian Phillip Keith Research Assistantship Award from Palo Alto University. As a licensed psychologist who had been based in Thailand and now in the US and also a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), she has conducted many professional trainings and workshops.</p>

<p>Mr. Lookpetch Mikkel Nielsen, a Business Administration alumnus (Class of 1998) successfully participated in the World Marathon Challenge, competing in seven marathon events in seven continents in seven days.</p>



<p>Mr. Nielsen and his wife Sasiwimon are the first Thai couple to finish this grueling marathon event which lasted from February 6 to 12, 2019 and which has brought both of them to Novo, Antarctica; Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Dubai, UAE; Madrid, Spain; Santiago, Chile; Miami, Florida, USA. Completing the standard marathon distance of 42.2 kilometers in each of the seven marathon events (or a total of 295.4 km), the two of them each clocked a total of 44:41:20. They finished each marathon leg in an average of six hours, rested a bit, then boarded the competition’s chartered plane for the next destination. A part-time PE instructor at MUIC who teaches a course on running, Mr. Nielsen is a marathoner, ultramarathoner and triathlete who has participated in the Challenge Copenhagen, the Hong Kong 100 Km, and is a member of the 7 Continents Marathon Club and the Marathon Grand Slam Club.</p>

<p>Two Mahidol University International College (MUIC) alumni won the Undergraduate Research Award at Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry. <strong>Mr. Suthinard Tungsukul and Ms. Nadasinee Jaruchotiratanasakul</strong>, 5<sup>th</sup> Year Dental students at Mahidol University Faculty of Dentistry, received 1<sup>st</sup> Prize for their research presentations in Basic and Clinical Science, respectively. <strong> </strong>Mr. Suthinard’s research was about the use of human stem cells on bone tissue engineering. On the other hand, Ms. Nadasinee’s research focused on the mental health impact of painful temporomandibular joint disorder. After graduating from MUIC’s <a href="https://muic.mahidol.ac.th/eng/programs/undergraduate-programs/science/biological-science/">Biological Science Program</a> (Class of 2015), they joined the Faculty of Dentistry through the joint MUIC-MUFD agreement. The awards were given by Prof. Dr. Waranun Buajeep, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. </p>

<p>Congratulations to&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Sirichai Saengchanchai, MUIC Class of 2010</strong>, for winning the “Best Photo 2019”award in the Asia-Pacific Forestry Week 2019 (APFW 2019) held on June 17-21, 2019 in Songdo Convensia Convention Center, Incheon, the Republic of Korea. The photo contest had the theme “Forest for Peace and Well-Being.” APFW 2019 is the 4<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;Asia-Pacific Forestry Week and is one of the largest and most important forestry gatherings in the Asia-Pacific region in 2019. It was jointly organized and hosted by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Korea Forest Service (KFS). Mr. Saengchanchai currently works as a Project Coordinator at the Center for People and Forests in Thailand (RECOFTC). Keep up your good work!</p>

<p>Congratulations to Mr. Sirachai “<strong>Shin</strong>” Arunrugstichai for winning the Bronze Medal in the recent DPG-SharkCon Photo Competition (“<strong>Shark Behavior</strong>” category)!</p>



<p>The winners were announced during a live judging event at SharkCon 2019 in Florida on July 13, 2019. Mr. Shin was awarded a Prawno Apparel $100 gift card. The panel of judges was comprised of the renowned “shark shooters”: Mr. Daniel Norwood, Ms. Tanya Houppermans and Mr. Jim Abernethy.</p>

<p>Congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Phuvadol Thanakiatkrai, a Biomedical Science alumnus from the Class of 2007 for being given the <strong>“Young Scientist Award 2019” </strong>by the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King on July 31, 2019. His work, entitled “PSU-VisDNA Kit: Reagent, Alternate Light Source, and Process for Improving the Effectiveness of DNA Analysis from Biological Evidence,” proposes the creation of an innovative tool that could benefit society.</p>

<p>A Mahidol University International College (MUIC) alumnus,&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Raja Asvanon</strong>, was recently awarded the Chevening Scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Environment and Sustainable Development at the Bartlett Faculty of Built Environment (‘The Bartlett’), University College London.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Mr. Raja, who obtained a BA major in Social Science (International Studies concentration) degree in 2015, worked in a major real estate corporation in Thailand, performing a leadership role in corporate planning and sustainability development with a specialization in climate change adaptation.</p>



<p>Out of 1,000 applicants, only 27 were chosen for the grant this year, including Mr. Raja. Chevening is the UK government’s global scholarship program that offers future leaders the unique opportunity to study in the UK. These scholarships are awarded to outstanding professionals from all over the world to pursue a one-year master’s degree in any subject at any UK university.</p>



<p>The Bartlett is ranked 1<sup>st</sup>&nbsp;in the world in Architecture/Built Environment in the 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject.</p>
